You know that feeling you get after figuring out a topic to write about and all these thoughts and voices are floating around in your head? There's just so many ideas. WRITE THOSE DOWN! Catch every thought before you lose them. Listen to every voice in your head before they're gone. For you 'scatter brains', there are plenty of unrelated thoughts as well as relevant ones; write down all. Later you can figure what is actually important and useful to fulfilling your topic.
