May 17, 2008, Christian Cruisers Club Announces First Annual Writers Cruise

Christian Cruisers are pleased to announce their first annual Christian Writers Conference. Setting sail from Miami, FL on March 29, 2009, the Cruisers will spend seven days aboard the beautiful Carnival Triumph. We will drop anchor in San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. All cruisers will have time to explore the tropical locations. On board, we will offer educational and inspirational workshops. Authors, agents, editors, and motivational speakers will share tips about the literary world.

The faculty will be available for questions and answer sessions, one on ones, book signings and fellowship. All aspiring and seasoned writers are invited to sail away with us.

The faculty includes Geralyn Beauchamp, Terry Burns, Sandy Cathcart, Sarah Ann Goebel, Pam Kumpe, Mary Sue Seymour, Vonda Skelton, Sandra Stanford, David Van Diest, Sarah Van Diest, Tama Westman, and Jill Williamson. Please check the website for updated faculty listing.

The day will begin with breakfast followed by an inspirational teaching and prayer time. Attendees will then be offered six seminars from which to choose each day. Writers will be able to make connections and to speak with literary agents, editors, and publishers.

The Carnival Triumph is the second ship in Carnival‚s Destiny class of Megaliners. The great cities of the world is the theme for this ship highlighting New York, Paris, Hollywood, Rome, and London. You will feel like you‚ve traveled the world in a week‚s time.

The Indexing Society of Canada / Société canadienne d’indexation (ISC/SCI)is pleased to announce that we are holding our annual conference in Burnaby,British Columbia, at Simon Fraser University June 2-3. Please visit ourconference website at:

What is the ISC? The Society, established in 1977, is Canada’s national association of professional indexers. Society members are located across Canada, and there are members in the United States and Europe as well. The Society also encourages students to join by offering them a specialmembership rate.

Who are indexers? Indexers are professionals who

  • create indexes for books, periodicals, and websiteswork on and with a wide variety of materials: standard trade books,scholarly monographs, journals and newspapers, government documents, legaland medical materials, maps, style guides, personal correspondence, and much more
  • often also specialize in fields such as editing, glossary writing, HTMLencoding, thesaurus construction, teaching, translation, project management, archival work, and consultation in information and knowledge management

The ISC is one of eight Indexing societies and networks in the world,joining a group that also includes the American Society for Indexing (ASI),Association of Southern African Indexers and Bibliographers (ASAIB),Australian and New Zealand Society of Indexers (ANZSI), China Society ofIndexers (CSI), Deutsches Netzwerk der Indexer (DNI), Nederlands IndexersNetwerk (NIN), and (British) Society of Indexers (SI).

The Society holds its conference and annual general meeting in a different Canadian city each year. This year we will be in beautiful Burnaby, B.C., and we’d love to have you join us!
