1.Imagination
Einstein is right again. Sweeping statements like the Einstein quote above beg to be overthrown. In this case, although I could think of instances where simple knowledge would be preferred over imagination, I have to admit that Einstein was onto something when he put imagination above knowledge.

Imagination has several definitions, but all that I came across involved thinking up something new, something not necessarily referenced to anything in the known "real world."

Knowledge gets you to the known. Imagination opens possibilities.

Knowledge is finite, at least for now. Imagination has no limits.

The good news is that this is not a zero-sum situation where you can have knowledge OR imagination. Knowledge bathed in the glow of imagination is full of possibilities. Every new invention or piece of art is the result of imagination. It may be fed by knowledge, but only imagination can take you to a completely new place, a place no one has ever gone before.

When we ask, "What if…," or we juxtapose two seemingly unrelated items or thoughts, things writers do, we are engaging in imagination, so I’m probably preaching to the choir here. I hope that as you read this, you recognize the imagination in your work and honour it. Then spread your wings and fly!

2.Tickled my funny bone
Whenever I go to bed I imagine I'm a cop. I go under cover.

3. Interesting Web site
If your tank is dry, try some of these ideas to spark your imagination.

4. Writing prompt
Pick a hurdle confronting you or your imaginary friend. Now imagine it even higher, even more impossible to clear. Wait! What if….? Make the what if something that you or your imaginary friend have to do. No waiting for the clouds to part. Imagine amazing powerful action, something that is so much more than had been dreamed before you started the exercise. Write about the problem and its imaginary solution.
