1. Fall in love with writing (again)
You read Editor’s Notes, so it’s a good bet that you love writing. From time to time, even the most ardent love can fade. This issue gives some tips for falling in love with writing all over again.

First, understand that it’s important to focus on your love. When love is in fresh bloom, it’s easy to think the euphoria will last forever. That’s unrealistic, so it’s important to set aside time to focus on what you love. How much time and how regularly will be up to you, but time is an important factor in keeping love alive.

Second, display your love. When we love people, we do things to show that love: photos on desks, rings on fingers, flowers for no special reason. Surround yourself with reminders of your love. Collect and display inspiring quotes about writing. Create rituals to remind yourself of your love for writing. Some people write to music. Some create a special place to write. Whatever it takes, show your love for writing.

Third, have fun with your love. No matter how many deadlines you have or how bad your writer’s block might be, write regularly just for fun. The form of your writing for fun doesn’t matter. What matters is that you enjoy doing it. The reward is the pleasure you get from spending time doing what you love.

Finally, renew your vows. Couples do this. Sometimes it is to celebrate coming through a difficult time. Sometimes it’s to stave off a difficult time. Sometimes it’s just because. Couples who do this formally or informally acknowledge that love is not all fun and games, and neither is writing. But like any love, the love of writing is worth preserving and nurturing. So, remind yourself of what you love about writing, and fall in love with writing again, more deeply.

Happy Valentine’s day, my writing friend.

3. Interesting Web site
This site is a source for and about poetry. This specific link is to a famous love poem. If you want to do more than just enjoy it, take on the writing prompt below.

4. Writing prompt
Write a love poem to writing, your writing. If you don’t usually write poems or see this suggestion as more of a threat than a writing prompt, use the poem in the link above (Interesting Web site) as a model and switch it up to capture your feelings about writing.
