I have always aspired to become a writer or poet, as my life long career. I am already a published poet at 15....now I have started working on writing a few books, Fiction and Non. My tip is that it doesn't matter how old you are, if you love to write...then write! It's your life, you should do what you love....whether your 5 and writing a fictional story about unicorn's and rainbows.....or if your 95 and just now finishing your life long memoirs. Keep true to yourself when writing, don't try to please anyone else but you....unless your trying to become published, then your going to have to write around what you think the public would relate to or like. Or maybe your publisher would like to change the title or end plot, who knows?....but if your only writing to write, because you love it and you don't care what anyone else thinks, then go for it! Show the world your god given talent, and ability! If writing's not your thing and your more into drawing (like me, I love writing AND drawing) or sculpting or something, apply the same rules, just be you....and enjoy everything you have now, because you don't know what you've got until its gone. I hope you follow your dreams, and pick up that pencil...the world can't read your mind, and know all the brilliant stories lurking in your head.....so show us what we are all missing:)) You should also look up J.K. Rowling's(author of Harry Potter series) biography online, its really fantastic...I was inspired:) I hope you are too!

I'm busy fighting all the monsters...
by: Anonymous

Thank you for the great commentary. I am also 15 and love to write. I am currently trying to write a story and am having diffuculty with everything else going on. High School makes finding time to write and relax extremely difficult. This is an awe-inspiring comment to me that basically told me that you can, no matter who you are or what you look like or who you know doesn't matter if you work hard and fight your way through all the monsters pulling you down. Like Thomas Jefferson said,"Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% persperation." I don't know if you know what he means, but I do.

Writing at any age
by: Audrey

I agree that writing at any age is a wonderful thing for those who love to write.

What is not so wonderful is announcing your age to the world online. There are too many crazies out there who live to harm others. For that reason, I do not post names and ages of minors on my site. Usually I remove the age. In your case, because the post is so age specific, I left your age, and removed your name.

Best wishes as you continue writing.

By the way, I have just created a Facebook page for this Web site. You might be interested in the updates that happen much more often there than here. You can reach it at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Writers-Helper/198008176920723
