Clear your mind clutter before you begin

by Joanne Klassen
(Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada)

Set a silent timer for just five minutes and write the words, "I am aware..." Then write fast, without stopping till the timer goes off.

Go back and highlight the part of what you've written that is most significant for you. Write a short affirmation about what you've highlighted, then dive into writing. I call this process "clearing writing" and it is often the best five minutes I invest in cranking up the flow and clarity of my writing.

Example: Everybody wants something from me today. Time for me is slipping through my fingers.

Affirmation: I am the one who decides what I give priority to. I choose to write, with joy because I can, and because it honors who I am.
