Before you begin writing..

by Jessica Hammond
(England)

Before you write your novel, brainstorm all your ideas first. Maybe draw a Spider-Diagram and list every detail. Write about the characters, their names, personalities, even looks.

Do some research. It may sound boring, but you'll know more about what you are writing about. For example, if in your story someone ends up in hospital, do a little research on hospitals and how they work. This will make your story sound more realistic.
