Editor's Notes #51, Comma Use #11 and New Interview With Lee Fodi
March 31, 2008
Hello,

A book is simply the container
of an idea-like a bottle;
what is inside the book is what matters.

-- Angela Carter

2. Lee Fodi: News and Interview

==========
1. Comma Use #11: The Comma With A Question
We are continuing with the series on the uses of the comma. To see the uses we discussed previously, click on the link below to the newsletter archive.

Use a comma to set off a question within a sentence if the question is framed as a direct question.

Example: The question, What will we have for breakfast? worried the children. (Note that the capital at the beginning of the question is optional.)

What we will eat is the question. (This is not a direct question because it has changed grammatically. The direct question would be phrased, What will we eat?)

2. Lee Fodi: News and Interview
If you've received Editor's Notes for some time, you have heard me talk about Lee Fodi. On two new pages on WritersHelper.com Lee shares more about writing. What are the advantages of writing a sequel and writing a stand alone book? Is it better to self-publish or use a trade publisher?
